As a caring, respectful and competent therapist with over 30 years of experience in individual, couple and family therapy, I believe it is a privilege to work with people and to facilitate the changes they desire. Therapy is a collaborative endeavor. Listening, understanding and responding meaningfully are the essential ingredients of my philosophy of treatment. I share but do not impose my ideas, and I ask that my patients be willing to look at themselves.
Whether I am working with individuals, couples or families, I recognize the importance of relationships. As individuals, and in relationships, we encounter obstacles along the journey of life. When relationships are stressed, emotions can tumble and reason can falter. Effective therapy helps people gain perspective and develop more rewarding relationships.
I have studied and use many therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic therapy, family systems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, chemical dependency treatment, and EMDR. I will utilize all my knowledge to formulate what combination of approaches would be most helpful to you.
